Sheldon and I went to Brazil for 10 days at the beginning of February and what a crazy adventure! We had so much fun and I won't bore you with every single picture and story from our trip, but hopefully you will enjoy some of the pictures I will post.
This is Tucker right before we left at the airport. He's totally thinking, "I can't believe you're leaving me for 10 days, what kind of parent are you?" I missed Tucker way more than I thought I would, but it was definitely nice to have a break.
This is just one of the many markets in Brazil. They always had tons of fruit and the bananas in Brazil taste so much better than here, they are so sweet, yum. I guess it's because they can pick them when they are ripe off the tree and not when they are neon green.
This is a huge shopping area in Sao Paulo, it's hard to see, but it is a long street that is completely packed full with people. They have tons of stores in each building, mostly selling fake things. We bought fake pumas for Tucker, Sheldon got some foakleys. That is Sheldon's friend from his mission Andre. He spent a lot of time with us and made sure we didn't get lost or scammed by the Brazilians. If Andre asked what the price of something was, they usually told him a pretty cheap price, but then if we asked how much something was of course it was way more expensive.

This is the Redeemer Statue in Rio, it doesn't look very big in this picture, but it is huge and at the top of a mountain.
The water is soo warm at the beach. The currents are also very strong and you don't have to get very far out before it is hard to swim back in. We saw helicopters rescuing people a couple of times.
Of course we went to a soccer game while we there. Totally crazy, everyone gets so in to it. This was the one time I was glad I didn't speak Portuguese, because Sheldon told me that everyone was cursing the Refs a lot. It started pouring rain about halfway through the game and we thought they were going to cancel the game, but they started it up again an hour later. Everyone that had left thinking it was over actually came back.
This is a view from the Bishop's house. It was a pretty nice house and definitely a very cool view. This is in Jundiai, one of Sheldon's areas on his mission. It is a pretty good example of what cities in general look like.

At Church with some of the people Sheldon knew on his mission. The people there are definitely so friendly, everyone wanted to have us over to lunch. I hated not being able to speak portuguese, we hung out with the members a lot and it was so annoying to not be able to understand what was going on and all the jokes.
Sheldon driving in Brazil. So crazy, I always felt like we were going to die. I will never make fun of Utah drivers again, because at least they obey the laws of the road. I also hated driving in Brazil because instead of cops enforcing the speed limit, they place speed bumps everywhere! These are huge speed bumps too, I think we drove over at least 100 speed bumps.
This isn't a very good picture, but the white thing is a little kite. Flying kites is very popular in Brazil, but it's a little different there. People place glass powder on the strings of their kites so when they fly them they can cut down other people's kites. It's kind of a sport to see if you can cut down other kites. It's also very dangerous though because you can get cut as well.
And finally we made it back home to Tucker. We were pretty excited to see him although he was a little unsure about us at first. Many thanks to my family for watching him for so long!
So cute, he is no rolling over from his tummy to his back. He loves rice cereal and talks to us all the time.
5. You are good at chopping wood. That doesn't sound very exciting, but I think it's really cool. So I guess I married an axe murd.... j/k. If we every get stranded on a deserted island I think we would survive.
And there are some other things I love about you which probably I shouldn't list on this blog for everyone else to read! I look forward to many more years filled with fun and adventure!
