June 2014

On the very last day of school for Tucker Halle broke her arm :( It was such a depressing start to our summer, but after the first few days Halle adapted really well to her cast and we had a really good summer. All the pictures of when she broke her arm are on Sheldon's phone so I will have to do a detailed post another time. When Tucker was home for spring break it was so crazy having all 3 kids home all day and I was worried that I would never make it through the summer, but we played with friends lots and just enjoyed being outside. I do like that all 3 kids generally enjoy playing with each other.

In June we went to a cousin's wedding at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. I always love it when we have family in town.

I think it was also in June that we went to Heritage Days in Syracuse with Sheldon's family. It was a fun-filled day with a parade in the morning, air show at hill air force base in the afternoon, and carnival rides at night!

Grandma Mills has the perfect tree for climbing in her backyard.

Nothing like fresh peas from the garden! I love them and all our kids love to eat them, especially Finn and Halle.

Halle had to wear a full arm cast for 3 weeks (did you know they have waterproof casts now? so cool!) and then she just had smaller cast up to her elbow for 3 more weeks. The first time she wanted a black cast, but I convinced her that another color might be better. The second time she still wanted black and it ended up looking really cool. We drew the batman symbol on it and stars. If I ever have to get a cast I may get black, it looks kind of classy.

I had never been to an air show before and I loved it! It was so cool to see the jets do all sorts of different tricks in the sky. It was a little noisy for Halle and Finn, but by the end they were a little more used to the noise. 

This is technically part of July, but we'll throw it in here anyway. Our ward does a 4th of July breakfast and bike parade every year. I loved the way the kids bikes looked all decorated. Halle and Finn don't like loud noises so we just did some small fireworks before the kids went to bed. I think you are officially a parent when you do fireworks before it is dark so you can still get the kids to bed at a decent time. Someday our kids will stay up late and watch real fireworks, but not until they start sleeping in late in the morning.

May 2014

At the end of kindergarten Tucker had a big Animal Project where he had to write a paper on his animal and then build a diorama. He chose a rattlesnake and I was so proud of the way his diorama turned out, he all the work himself. I just did the hot gluing.

One Saturday we decided to go for a hike, but the hike we wanted to go on was up by Alta and we didn't realize that in May there is still snow so high in the mountains. We couldn't go very far on our hike before the trail was covered in a few feet of snow, but we still had fun on our little hike.

One day Tucker made a smiley face with his lunch and had to take a picture. Future food blogger!

Easter 2014

We had a great Easter this year with a picnic and easter egg hunt in a park. It seemed like it was going to rain, but we ended up with perfect weather.

 The Park was right next to a river and Finn thought easter eggs were like rocks and kept trying to throw them in the river. He would find an egg and head toward the river to throw it in.

 Grandma Mills planned some fun activities for the kids to play while the adults hid the eggs. They had fun kicking the balls through the hoops and then crawling through them.

 I wish I had taken a picture of it, but this year we dyed our eggs by putting food coloring in shaving cream and then rolling the eggs in the shaving cream. You can read more about it here. The kids were more interested in it than the regular method, although the did end up with very colorful dyed hands.

Tucker worked so hard on his end of year animal project. He had to write up a paper on his animal, he chose rattlesnake. He also had to make a diorama and I had him figure out how to do it on his own. I just did the hot glue gun for him. I think it turned out looking pretty cool. They had to present their project in front of their class and then tell the parents about it when they came to the school.  

Parks and other fun things-Spring 2014

We love finding fun new parks and we found an awesome one in West Jordan. It had 3 different play areas all in one big park. We played at a big wood park for a while and then headed over to a different playground. Sheldon spun the kids very fast on the tire swing and then I had him spin me, and I was queasy for the next 30 min. I never used to get sick spinning, I guess it means I'm getting old when I can't get dizzy without getting sick. Oh to be young again!

 Tucker and I went on a Mother-Son date at his school this year. It was a breakdance night and they had some kids teach us some dance moves. Tucker wasn't really loving the loud music and we couldn't find any of his friends, so we decided to leave a little bit early and get a treat from the grocery store. It was fun to have a little date with him.

 A fun trip with my mom to the dinosaur museum. I think we take a picture on this dinosaur every time we go.

 The new aquarium in Draper is not as cool as I was hoping it would be, but all the exhibits aren't finished yet so I should withhold judgment. The kids had a lot of fun touching the manta rays and hanging out in the shark tunnel. Tucker took about 20 pictures of the sharks with our camera.
