Tucker started Kindergarten this year and has loved going to school every day! I was so nervous and a little bit sad about sending him off to school. The only preschool Tucker did was a little joy school with some other moms in our ward, so he has never been away from home very much. The night before Tucker started school I was feeling nervous about sending him off into the world and praying very hard for him to be watched over at school. As I was praying I received the answer that Heavenly Father was always watching over him and watching over all of us. It was nice to remember that Heavenly Father is watching out for Tucker and for me too. Even as adults it's nice to know someone is taking care of us. Tucker's school is close enough to walk to and after taking lots of first day of school pictures we headed off to school.
He wanted to make a scary face for his first picture.
Of course Halle has to copy Tucker and make a face just like his.
Tucker played at the playground before they lined up. He waited in line with no problems and never got nervous!
After Tucker went into his class we went to a little assembly about PTA. I kept it together and no tears were shed! Halle was very happy to have a doughnut, she had a really hard time the first few weeks Tucker went to school. She missed him so much and would cry every time he left, now she is used to him leaving and it is fun to have some one-on-one time with her. Then we came back home and played at the park for a little while and before we knew it, it was time to pick up Tucker from school.
Tucker has a sweet kindergarten teacher and she has said that he is very good at listening and staying on task, even though he may be a little slow sometimes at completing his work. It's amazing how much kindergartners have to learn! He has learned a lot of sight words and it is so fun to be able to start reading books with him.
