Couch Potato

We survived the dentist! It was not a fun experience, but I think Tucker did pretty good considering everything. He screamed bloody murder for 4 minutes, but the dentist was right when he said it would take about 4 minutes. Tucker mainly hated it because they stuck something in his mouth to keep it open and then the noises of all the tools. He calmed down really quickly after it was all over, faster than he calms down with shots. Tucker was also very excited to get another bouncy ball from the dentist. Tucker was kind of tired the rest of the day and I just let him watch a movie. I thought it was so funny that he would just lay on the floor holding his remote watching the movie. He stayed there for about 10 minutes, which is pretty long for him, especially now that he loves to walk around.

Labor Day

Sheldon and I have been trying to go swimming at the pool again for so long, but something always seems to come up or we have bad weather. Labor Day was pretty nice weather and we had fun at the pool with my sister there. I would have prefered it to be a little hotter, because there was a breeze, but it was still fun. Tucker is becoming quite the independent little boy, he was so proud of himself when he crawled off on his own. He would look back at us and smile, and then just keep on crawling. He also loved walking around, but I was a little nervous having him walk on the concrete. He is pretty stable, but I wanted to avoid a nasty fall if I could. He is definitely a walker though, he is always wanting to take off and explore on his own. Most of the time I don't mind, Church is always hard as I am sure everyone with kids knows! I am just glad to have my happy boy back and that the frustrated phase when they are learning to walk is over!

Walkin' around...

Tucker is so good at walking, and when he is in the mood he will walk all over the place! When we go someplace different, he still likes to hold your hand. It won't be very long before I will have to hold him back from running all over the place! He loves following us around and playing chase.

1 year stats

Tucker had his 1 year doctor appt about 2 weeks ago and I just forgot to blog about it. I'm sure you are all dying to hear about it. He is very low in the percentile for weight, but he sure doesn't look that little to me.
weight: 19.6 lb 8%
height: 29.25 in 33%
head: 18.5 in 69%
He hasn't grown lengthwise at all since the last appt., technically he actually shrunk a quarter of an inch, but it's probably just because it's hard to measure a wiggly baby. We have bad news and good news, I will give the bad news first because everyone knows you save the best for last! Sad News: We took Tucker to the dentist this week and he has a little cavity. I brush his teeth every day and give him flouride, but the doctor said it was due to a deformity in his tooth, just really soft enamel in one spot. So next week we have to have it filled, which means we have to hold him while the doctor does a quick filling. It won't be fun so I am making Sheldon come with me.
Good News: Tucker is doing so good at walking, when he wants to he can walk all over place. I will post videos soon of his cute walk.

it's my birthday...

We didn't do too much for Tucker's birthday. We finally got him a nice Sunday outfit and we were so excited about it he got his own special photoshoot to model it. The only thing we forgot to buy were shoes! So he went to church wearing his nice outfit, but barefoot :) It was pretty cute. Since he isn't walking that much yet, we just haven't really bought him shoes. I think the time is coming soon though! He is really starting to take off on his own, it may only be 2 or 3 more weeks before he is running all over the place.
Tucker can hold his finger up when you ask him how old he is, actually he can't, but that is what it looks like he is doing. Wouldn't it be cute if he could do that?

This has got to be the cutest face you've ever seen, but I admit it, I'm probably a little biased.
I made Tucker his own little race car birthday cake, because I think he likes cars a lot. He makes a vrooom sound sometimes when he plays with his cars. I think it turned out pretty cute and don't worry, of course I washed the car before I put it on the cake. Sheldon decorated the bigger cake that was for his parents and us to eat.
Tucker looks so excited to eat his cake, but unfortunately the whole experience was kind of anticlimactic. Tucker took one handful of cake, tasted a little bit, and then he totally started to push it away and wasn't interested at all. Sigh. I guess that is what happens when you don't give your kid a lot of sweets, when you finally give him sweets he isn't interested.

He actually didn't even get that dirty, Sheldon was trying to get him to eat a little bit more and put the frosting on his nose and cheek.

I think he got tired of being sticky and messy so he got the saddest look on his face, but I guess it's his birthday and he can cry if he wants to ;)

One Crazy Year

Tucker turned one yesterday! What a crazy year it has been, our lives will never be the same, for the most part that is a good thing :) Every now and then I miss the freedom of not having kids, and having more money, and less poopy diapers, but then I think about how much fun Tucker is and I wouldn't give him back if I could. He is a pretty entertaining little kid and I have realized when I talk to other moms that he is very easy to take care of. Here is a look back at Tucker's first year, beginning with the day before he was born!

I love this picture, his face all scrunched up saying, "send me back!"

Happy Birthday Tucker! (even though you don't know what that means yet)

More to come on Tucker's first experience with cake!

Woof, Woof!

Tucker is learning so many new things these days! He is getting really good at imitating what you do. He can pucker his lips when you tell him to give kisses and he is starting to learn the sounds animals make. So far he can do 'woof woof' really good and is starting to be able to do 'meow.' He tries to make a lot of the other sounds but he hasn't quite got any of them down yet. Unfortunately he is also starting to learn the word 'no' but he hasn't started saying it all the time yet. Just every once in a while, so I am really trying to avoid saying the word no to him. This video has two good clips of him saying meow and woof.
